Appalachian Mountain Brewery’s Boone Creek Blonde Ale Wins Gold at 2017 Great American Beer Festival

Boone, NC, October 12, 2017 — Appalachian Mountain Brewery (AMB) brought home a gold medal for its Boone Creek Blonde Ale from the 2017 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition. GABF is the largest commercial beer competition in the world and recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. More than 8,000 entries were submitted to this year’s competition, which awarded 293 gold, silver and bronze medals across 98 beer-style categories at a ceremony held October 7 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. This is the third gold medal that Boone Creek Blonde Ale has been awarded over the past years.

“We’re proud to bring home a third gold medal for Boone Creek Blonde, which has been our tried and true brew,” said Nathan Kelischek, Brewmaster at Appalachian Mountain Brewery. “We won our first gold medal for the Boone Creek Blonde recipe in 2013 at the U.S. Open Beer Championships, and earned another gold from the same competition in 2015. Consistency and quality are top priorities at AMB, and we are honored to join the ranks of other North Carolina and national brewers who won medals this year!”

Named for the creek that runs alongside the brewery, Boone Creek Blonde was one of AMB’s first beers on tap when the brewery opened its 10-barrel brewery and tasting room in 2013. Since then, the brewery has maintained its commitment to brew innovative and delicious craft beer with a strong focus on community, sustainability, and philanthropy. Boone Creek Blonde Ale is available on tap at AMB’s brewery and tasting room located at 163 Boone Creek Drive in Boone, as well as in cans and on draught at retailers and restaurants across the brewery’s home state of North Carolina.

“Each year the Great American Beer Festival showcases the best that American brewers have to offer,” said Chris Swersey, competition manager, Great American Beer Festival. “With a record 8,000 + entries, this year’s competition was the most competitive to date. Congratulations to all the winners who truly demonstrated why the U.S. is the world’s best and most diverse brewing nation.”
